A courted reminder of an essential webinar on the important issue of consent. Disputes about adequacy of the consent process is a common cause of complaints and claims. It is absolutely necessary that you are aware of the key issues regarding patient autonomy, obtaining valid consent and its documentation.
The process of managing consent and expectations provides the opportunity to develop trust and understanding with patients and enhance your reputation as a clinician, and the reputation of your clinic. It may also provide the basis for a robust defence should a claim arise.
Join Dental Protection’s Head of Dental Services – Asia & Australasia, Dr James Foster for this one-hour interactive webinar where he will discuss the functions of consent and autonomy, free will and choice in relation to patient care. Dr Foster will outline the limited benefits of a consent form, provide ideas for documenting the process and will share examples of ethical dilemmas a clinician may face.
There will be the opportunity for real time questions and answers during this webinar. This interactive webinar is available to Dental Protection members
By attending this webinar you will:
- Define valid consent and how it relates to patient care in the Dental Practice
- Understand the functions and importance of consent
- Highlight the limited benefits of a consent form and how we might document the process
